Stacy created her gym in July 2002 and opened Future Flipz, Inc. in Clearwater on March 18, 2003.
“It is a dream come true”. She is the director of all programs and currently works in the office, helps with birthday parties, sleepovers, parent’s night out and teaches private lessons. “Love what you do in life”.
She started her 8 year competitive career in gymnastics at Apollo School of Gymnastics when she was 8 years old. While there, she became a nationally ranked Class I/Level 10 gymnast, placing at the 1990 Junior Olympic Games. She was also an NCA All-American Cheerleader in 1991 – 1992 and participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. She was also on the Tampa LaFleur’s All-Star Cheerleading Squad and competed at Nationals in 1991. She is a graduate of Dunedin High School, Class of 1992. She attended St. Petersburg College for 2 and a half years and studied business courses while starting her Gymnastics career in 1992.
Stacy’s coaching career started with her Coach Mr. Stowe in Tampa and then she moved locations to her home gym Apollo. There she taught Competitive Team; Levels 5 & 6, Preschool Classes, was the Progressive Team Manager, and also taught Cheerleading and other Recreational Classes since 1992. In 2002, Stacy coached and built the programs at Future Flipz until she created a self sustaining business model. She is a professional member of USA Gymnastics and is a USA Gymnastics Skill Evaluator. She is certified in SAFESPORT; Preventing Misconduct, U101: Safety & Risk Management, U100: Fundamentals of Gymnastics Instruction and USA Gymnastics University: Instructor. Stacy expanded her gymnastics knowledge into the sport of Diving and is certified through USA DIVING and hold certificates in Coaching Diving, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention and Sudden Cardiac Arrest. She is a Level 2 Volunteer and is the Head Coach for the Dunedin High School Diving Team. In 2020 she had 2 District Champions (Brooklyn & Dean) and 2 State Qualifiers (Brooklyn & Dean) and 1 State Finalist (Brooklyn- 18th). In 2021 she had 2 District & Regional Champions (Brooklyn & Dean), 3 State Qualifiers (Brooklyn, Dean, Bodie) & 2 State Finalists (Brooklyn- 10th place & Dean- 15th). In 2022 Stacy had 2 District Champions (Brooklyn & Bodie), 1 Regional Champion (Bodie) and 2 State Qualifiers (Brooklyn & Bodie) in 2022. She is proud and thankful of all the years of experience and expertise she has learned thus far and is always welcoming new and exciting challenges that present itself each day!!
Stacy is married to Bret Thompson, together they have 3 children; Savanah (+ Chris), Jacob and Brooklyn. All 6 work at Future Flipz.
